MECHANIC I936-IF-I Precision Soldering Tip (Straight Tip)
Description
The MECHANIC I936-IF-I tip belongs to the "IF" (Industrial Fine) series, a range of soldering tools optimised for high-precision electronic repair. This model features an extremely tapered straight tip, similar to a needle, which is essential for technicians working on high-density smartphone motherboards. Its geometry allows for localised thermal application on 0201 or 01005 size SMD components, thereby limiting the risk of accidental solder bridges on adjacent components.
From a technical perspective, the IF series benefits from a rigorous manufacturing process. The body of the tip is made of oxygen-free pure copper, selected for its superior thermal conductivity, and protected by a high-density multi-layer coating. This specific plating provides increased protection against chemical erosion caused by modern soldering fluxes and prevents the tip from "petrifying" (black oxidation). The tip finish is mechanically polished to ensure immediate wettability and optimal retention of the solder alloy.
Designed to be mounted on 936-type soldering irons, this tip is particularly effective for "jumpering" operations (track bridging) and FPC connector repairs. Its axial rigidity allows the technician to apply the light and precise pressure required when delicately scraping epoxy varnish off internal PCB tracks without damaging the lower layers.

Workshop Advice & Usage
The IF-I series is extremely fine; the tip is therefore fragile when subjected to mechanical shock. To prevent the end from bending, never use this tip as a lever. Due to its low thermal mass at the tip, a station temperature set between 350°C and 375°C is recommended to compensate for rapid dissipation during contact with lead-free solder. For maintenance, use a tip refresher as soon as the tip no longer holds solder, and avoid leaving the iron on at high temperatures without prolonged use.
