MECHANIC I936-ESD-I Precision Soldering Tip (Straight Point)
Description
The MECHANIC I936-ESD-I soldering tip is an essential precision accessory for technicians specialising in electronic micro-maintenance. Designed to fit 936-type soldering handles, this "I" type (straight) tip features an ultra-tapered end allowing work on 0201 and 0402 size SMD components. Its anti-static (ESD-Safe) design is rigorously engineered to dissipate electrical charges, eliminating the risk of irreversible damage to processors, NAND chips, and other sensitive semiconductors during the contact phase.
From a structural point of view, the I936-ESD-I uses a high-quality pure copper core, chosen for its ability to transfer heat evenly from the heating element to the apex of the tip. The multi-layer coating is optimised to resist repeated thermal cycles, while the surface finish promotes excellent tin wettability. This feature is crucial for achieving clean, burr-free solder joints and for preventing the formation of tin "peaks" when removing the iron.
Its straight geometry offers perfect axial force transmission, making it the ideal tool for repairing cut tracks (jumpers) requiring millimetre-perfect placement. It is also particularly effective for cleaning solder residue between the pins of very fine-pitch FPC connectors where space is restricted.

Workshop Advice & Usage
Due to the extreme fineness of the I936-ESD-I tip, the thermal contact area is reduced. To achieve effective tin melting without increasing the temperature beyond 350°C, we recommend using a high-quality soldering flux which will facilitate heat transfer. Always clean the tip using a brass sponge rather than a wet sponge to avoid micro-cracks in the plating due to thermal shock. A tip well-tinned before each standby will retain its anti-static properties and wettability for much longer.
